Special Event: Ringling Musem of Art Demonstration
March 29, 2025

Senseis Patricia Bonarek, Adrienne Wagner, and Leslie Wier-Fincher from the Sogetsu School gave a demonstration to the Ringling Museum of Arts docents and volunteers. Their demonstration was eagerly received by the attendees who were delighted to learn more about the history of Ikebana.

March Chapter Meeting: Basket Bonanza
March 31, 2025

Adrienne Wagner from the Sogetsu School and Polly Curran from the Wafu School demonstrated arrangements in baskets, followed by a workshop. Baskets were on sale for members to purchase for their workshop arrangements. New board officer nominees were also introduced for the 2025-2027 term

February Chapter Meeting: Morimono
February 24, 2025

Sensei Patricia Bonarek and Dorinda Wilkinson from the Sogetsu School demonstrated Morimono arrangements, followed by a workshop. Members greatly enjoyed working with fruits and vegetables with great creativity! The White Elephant Sale was also a huge success, with four tables of lovely Ikebana and Asian goods. Everyone went home with a new treasure!

January Chapter Meeting: Sogestu School

This month, Sogetsu Sensei George Schofield created interesting arrangements using tall containers, explaining the unique materials and techniques needed to create large arrangements. Members and guests were delighted with his presentation. Holiday baskets were also offered on sale, with proceeds going to support the chapter.

November Chapter Meeting: Hana Tsutsumi
November 25, 2024

Happy Thanksgiving to you all and your families. This month, our Ikebana Chapter felt like family. Participating in the Hana Tsutsumi workshop to create beautiful 'Kifune', paper wrapping containers for flowers, especially since it's near holiday time, was enthusiastic with much sharing and collaboration.  Twenty members and guests were excited by how the arrangements felt like a flower garden.

In addition to these festivities, our member, Doris Botshon received her Sogetsu Teaching certificate, third grade, from her Sensei, Pat Bonarek.  Congratulations Doris.  Her flower name is 'Matsu Tei', pine garden.

October Chapter Meeting: Favorite Flower, Favorite Vase

Sogetsu Sensei Marcy Chapman created lovely  arrangements using her favorite vase with some favorite seasonal flowers, along with some very timely Autumn and Halloween themed creativity.  Flowing this our members created some special arrangements using some tips of photography from Polly Curran.

Ikebana Sarasota Chapter #115 donated decorations and celebratory arrangements for the opening ceremony of the Sarasota Sumi-e Society’s Community Exhibit at The Ringling Museum of Art.
